A safe birth, guided by experience and your individual needs
Birthing Services
From preparing for labour to welcoming your baby, Dr. Rutuja M. Narvekar provides personalised obstetric care focused on safety, informed choices and a positive childbirth experience.
Preparing you for one of life’s most important moments
Childbirth is different for every woman. Some pregnancies progress towards a vaginal birth, while others may require a Caesarean delivery for the safety of the mother or baby. Some women may also explore options such as labouring in water.
The aim is not to promise a particular mode of delivery. Instead, it is to provide safe, evidence-based and compassionate obstetric care while keeping you informed throughout your birthing journey.
Did you know?
Labour does not have to follow a fixed timetable.
Every labour progresses differently. Current WHO guidance recognises that labour progression varies between women, and a slower cervical dilation rate by itself should not automatically be treated as a reason for medical intervention when maternal and fetal conditions are reassuring.

Normal Delivery
What it is
Normal delivery, also called vaginal birth, is when the baby is delivered through the vagina without Caesarean surgery.
When is it required
A vaginal birth may be considered when the pregnancy is progressing appropriately and there are no maternal or fetal concerns that make another mode of birth safer.
What to expect
Dr. Rutuja monitors your health, your baby’s wellbeing and the progress of labour. Depending on your situation, she guides you through labour positions, pain-relief options, monitoring and other appropriate interventions.
The final mode of delivery is always based on the safety and wellbeing of both mother and baby.
A Caesarean delivery, commonly called a C-section, is a surgical method of delivering the baby through an incision made in the mother’s abdomen and uterus.
When is it required
A C-section may be recommended when vaginal birth is not considered the safest option. Reasons can include certain problems with labour progression, concerns about the baby’s wellbeing, some placental conditions, certain fetal positions, multiple pregnancies or other maternal or pregnancy-related factors.
What to expect
Dr. Rutuja explains why a Caesarean may be recommended, discusses the available options and coordinates the delivery with the appropriate hospital team. After surgery, recovery, pain management, breastfeeding support and follow-up care are also important parts of the childbirth journey.
A Caesarean is not a “failure” of normal delivery. When medically indicated, it can be the safest way to deliver a baby.
Water birthing involves using a specially designed birthing pool during labour and, in some settings, giving birth while submerged in water. It is important to distinguish labouring in water from actually delivering the baby underwater.
When is it required
Water immersion may be an option for selected women with an uncomplicated pregnancy, depending on the pregnancy, clinical circumstances and availability of an appropriately equipped facility.
What to expect
If water immersion is being considered, Dr. Rutuja can discuss whether it is appropriate for you, what the facility offers and how you and your baby will be monitored. If any maternal or fetal concern develops, you may need to leave the pool and continue labour or delivery using another approach.

I visited her a month or two ago after searching for a good doctor near me, and I’m so glad I found her. She is extremely sweet, humble, and approachable.
What I really appreciated was the way she explained everything in detail—from the diagnosis and treatment to the possible reasons behind the condition. She takes the time to answer all your questions and makes you feel reassured and confident that everything will be fine.
She is not only an excellent doctor but also a genuinely kind and caring person. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a good doctor who listens, explains, and makes you feel comfortable.

What I really appreciated was how approachable and responsive she was. She was available whenever we needed guidance, even at late at nights.....
We didnt felt like just another patient it was personal. She genuinely listens, explains things patiently and, most importantly, understands the emotional side of what you are going through. Your reassurance and emotional support meant a lot to us.
She is also very knowledgeable and we always felt that we were in safe hands.
We genuinely thank you Doctor for being there for us during an important and slightly difficult phase. Would definitely recommend Dr. Rutuja to anyone looking for a good gynaecologist.

Your preferences are an important part of childbirth discussions, but the safest mode of delivery also depends on your pregnancy and clinical circumstances. Some women can safely plan for vaginal birth, while others may have medical reasons that make Caesarean delivery safer. Dr. Rutuja discusses the benefits, risks and alternatives relevant to your situation so that you can make an informed decision. If circumstances change during labour, the recommended mode of delivery may also need to change.
Does a C-Section mean I could not have a normal delivery?
No. A Caesarean delivery is not a measure of whether you succeeded or failed at childbirth. Sometimes a C-section is the safest option for the mother or baby. Reasons can include concerns about fetal wellbeing, labour not progressing appropriately, certain fetal positions or other maternal and pregnancy-related factors. A previous Caesarean also does not automatically determine the mode of every future birth; the options should be discussed with your obstetrician based on your individual history.
Is normal delivery always safer than a C-Section
Neither mode of birth is automatically safer for every woman. Vaginal birth can avoid abdominal surgery, while a Caesarean can be an important and sometimes life-saving procedure when there is a medical indication. The safest option depends on your health, your baby’s condition, pregnancy complications, labour progress and other clinical factors. Dr. Rutuja’s role is to help you understand these factors and recommend the safest approach for your specific pregnancy.
Can I have a water birth?
Water immersion may be an option for some women with uncomplicated pregnancies, depending on the facility, pregnancy stage and clinical circumstances. However, it is important to distinguish between labouring in water and giving birth underwater. Evidence supports potential benefits of immersion during the first stage of labour for selected women, but evidence for underwater birth is less established. Dr. Rutuja can discuss whether water immersion is appropriate for your pregnancy and explain the facilities and safety protocols available.
Does labouring in water reduce pain?
Water immersion can help some women feel more relaxed and comfortable during labour. Research has also found an association between first-stage water immersion and reduced use of some forms of pain medication in selected women. However, the experience differs between individuals, and water immersion should not be presented as a guaranteed way to eliminate labour pain. Your doctor can discuss other pain-relief options as part of your birth planning.
