Intimate healthcare should be personal, respectful and informed

Changes in the intimate area can occur naturally with age, childbirth, hormonal changes, genetics and other factors.
Some women seek care because of discomfort or functional concerns. Others may have concerns about appearance or changes following childbirth.
There is no single definition of what is “normal” when it comes to female anatomy.

Did you know?

There is considerable natural variation in female genital anatomy.
Aesthetic procedures should therefore not be based on unrealistic ideas of what female anatomy “should” look like. A consultation is an opportunity to understand your anatomy, discuss your concerns and make an informed decision.

Different concerns. Different solutions.Aesthetic & Functional Gynaecology

Labiaplasty | Shree Women's Clinic

Labiaplasty

What it is
Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure that reshapes or reduces the labia, the folds of tissue around the vaginal opening.
When is it required
Some women seek consultation because of persistent physical discomfort, irritation, pulling or discomfort during certain activities. Others may have concerns about the appearance of the labia.
What to expect
Dr. Rutuja discusses your concerns, anatomy, expectations and medical history to determine whether labiaplasty is appropriate. The procedure, recovery and potential risks should be discussed thoroughly before making a decision.

Vaginoplasty

What it is
Vaginoplasty is a surgical procedure that involves reconstructing or modifying vaginal tissues. Depending on the indication, it may be considered for specific structural or functional concerns.
When is it required
It may be considered in selected cases involving vaginal structural changes or concerns following childbirth or other circumstances.
What to expect
Dr. Rutuja assesses your symptoms and expectations and explains whether surgery is appropriate. The potential benefits, limitations, risks and recovery period are discussed before treatment.

Hymenoplasty | Shree Women's Clinic

Hymenoplasty

What it is
Hymenoplasty is a surgical procedure that reconstructs or repairs the hymenal tissue.
When is it required
Women may seek this procedure for personal, cultural or individual reasons.
What to expect
A private consultation allows Dr. Rutuja to understand your concerns and explain what the procedure involves, its limitations and expected recovery.
Important: The appearance of the hymen cannot reliably establish whether someone has had sexual intercourse. There is no medical examination that can prove a person’s sexual history from the hymen.

Vaginal Rejuvenation

What it is
“Vaginal rejuvenation” is a broad term used for procedures intended to address changes in vaginal tissues, comfort or appearance. The specific treatment depends on the underlying concern.
When is it required
Women may seek treatment for concerns related to vaginal changes after childbirth, ageing, hormonal changes or sexual discomfort.
What to expect
Dr. Rutuja first evaluates the actual concern rather than recommending a procedure simply because it is marketed as “rejuvenation.” Depending on the cause, treatment may involve non-surgical care, pelvic floor rehabilitation, medical treatment or a surgical procedure.

Clitoral Hood Reduction | Shree Women's Clinic

Clitoral Hood Reduction

What it is
Clitoral hood reduction is a surgical procedure that reduces or reshapes excess tissue around the clitoral hood.
When is it required
Women may seek consultation because of concerns about appearance or, in selected cases, physical discomfort.
What to expect
Because the clitoris is highly sensitive and contains important nerves, careful assessment and discussion of potential risks are essential. Dr. Rutuja discusses anatomy, expectations, potential complications and alternatives before considering surgery.

Genital Pigmentation

What it is
Darker pigmentation around the vulva and surrounding genital skin is common and can occur naturally due to genetics, hormones, friction and other factors.
When is it required
Some women seek consultation because they are concerned about changes in pigmentation or the appearance of the genital skin.
What to expect
Dr. Rutuja first assesses the skin and considers possible causes before discussing whether any treatment is appropriate. Not every form of pigmentation requires treatment.
Important: Genital skin is sensitive, and unregulated bleaching products or aggressive treatments can cause irritation, burns and long-term skin changes.

Post Delivery Scar Revision | Shree Women's Clinic

Post-Delivery Scar Revision

What it is
Scar revision can address selected scars or discomfort associated with childbirth-related tears, episiotomy or healed surgical areas.
When is it required
Consider an evaluation if a healed scar remains painful, tight, uncomfortable during intercourse or causes functional or cosmetic concerns.
What to expect
Dr. Rutuja assesses the scar and surrounding tissues and determines whether revision may be appropriate. Treatment depends on the location, type and extent of the scar.

Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation

What it is
The pelvic floor is a group of muscles that supports the pelvic organs and contributes to bladder and bowel control and sexual function.
When is it required
It may be helpful after pregnancy and childbirth or for concerns such as urinary leakage, pelvic pressure, pelvic floor weakness or certain types of pelvic pain.
What to expect
Treatment may involve assessment and personalised pelvic floor exercises or referral to an appropriately trained pelvic floor physiotherapist depending on your needs.
This is not a cosmetic treatment. It is an important part of functional women’s healthcare.

Urinary Incontinence | Shree Women's Clinic

Urinary Incontinence

What it is
Urinary incontinence means involuntary leakage of urine.
When is it required
You may benefit from evaluation if you leak urine when coughing, sneezing, laughing, exercising or lifting, or if you experience a sudden urge that is difficult to control.
What to expect
Dr. Rutuja evaluates your symptoms to understand the type and possible cause of incontinence. Depending on the situation, treatment may include pelvic floor rehabilitation, lifestyle measures, bladder training, medication or other interventions.
When should you consider a consultation?

Start with the concern, not the procedure

You don’t necessarily need to know which procedure you want before seeing Dr. Rutuja.
Sometimes the best treatment isn’t a procedure at all.
A consultation may be appropriate if you have:
  • Persistent intimate discomfort
  • Discomfort during exercise or physical activity
  • Pain during intercourse
  • Concerns following childbirth
  • Episiotomy or tear-related discomfort
  • Urinary leakage
  • Pelvic floor weakness
  • Concerns about vulvar appearance
  • Concerns about genital pigmentation
  • Changes related to ageing or menopause
  • Questions about an intimate procedure

What Our Patients Say

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Is aesthetic gynaecology only about appearance?

No. Aesthetic gynaecology can involve both appearance-related and functional concerns. Some women seek care because of concerns about the appearance of the vulva, while others experience discomfort, changes after childbirth, pelvic floor problems or sexual discomfort. The first step should always be understanding the underlying concern. In some cases, a medical treatment or pelvic floor rehabilitation may be more appropriate than an aesthetic procedure.

Is labiaplasty medically necessary?

Labiaplasty is not medically necessary for most women. Some women consider it because of persistent physical discomfort, irritation or functional concerns, while others have aesthetic concerns. Because natural labial anatomy varies significantly, the decision should be individualised. Dr. Rutuja can assess your concerns, explain potential benefits and limitations and discuss alternatives before you decide whether surgery is appropriate.

Can childbirth cause urinary leakage?

Yes. Pregnancy and childbirth can affect pelvic floor muscles and the structures supporting the bladder, and some women develop urinary leakage as a result. Leakage when coughing, sneezing, laughing or exercising is commonly associated with stress urinary incontinence. It is common, but it is not something you simply have to live with. Pelvic floor rehabilitation and other treatments may help depending on the cause.

Is hymenoplasty the same as restoring virginity?

No. Hymenoplasty reconstructs or repairs hymenal tissue, but it cannot medically restore or prove virginity. The appearance of the hymen does not reliably indicate whether someone has had sexual intercourse, and there is no medical examination that can establish a person’s sexual history from the hymen. Women considering hymenoplasty should receive accurate information about what the procedure can and cannot achieve before making a decision.
